St. Andrews Family History Updates.  Talk and visit to Heather Hills led by Simon, who will also demonstrate some of the techniques used to discover our past.

21st

St. Andrews Family History Updates.  Discuss Celts to Christians.  The impact Christianity had on our ancestor’s beliefs and how it affected their way of life.

28th

Guided tour of the Chapel at Bradwell and the surrounding site including Roman archaeology 2 p.m.  Starting our tour following in the steps of a Roman Centurion!

October 5th

St. Andrews Family History Updates. Discuss the Roman invasions and how this possibly affected the British way of life.

12th

St. Andrews - Family History Updates.  Discuss the Night Templar and the Holy wars and how this would have possibly affected our ancestors.

Meet at Cressing Temple 11 a.m. for a private guided tour of the archaeology that has been uncovered at Cressing Temple , Lunch in the Templar Tea Rooms followed by individual Audio tours of the site history.

No meeting at St. Andrews– half term holiday

November 2nd

 

St Andrews Fashions through the ages.  Discuss the changes and bring along any items/photographs suitable.

9th

St. Andrews Family History Updates.  Discuss the involvement of animals used for our leisure and sports in times past.

16th

Visit to Galleywood Heritage Centre for a talk about the centre and its connection to the old race course and their veterans of WW1.  followed by tea/coffee and cake. 2 p.m. meet at the Heritage Centre.

23rd

St. Andrews - Talk by Ivor Smith on the History of Hatfield Peverel from Doomsday to present day.

30th

St. Andrews Last meeting before the Christmas break.  General group discussions over a glass of fruit punch or mulled wine, accompanied by mince pies.  Bring along any item of interest that connects to your family tree.
