St. Andrews – Family History Updates.  Discuss regional dialects and accents. Bring along any recordings you may have of your ancestors.

19th

 No meeting at St. Andrews - Private tour of the Essex Record office 2 – 3.30 p.m. led by Jenny Butler.  Meet at the ERO coffee area 1.45.

26th

St. Andrews – Family History Updates.  Discuss the most relevant dates, changes and events that could prove useful in family history research.

February 2nd

No Meeting at St. Andrews.  Meet at the Little Baddow History Centre to take a look at the new exhibition ‘High Days and Holidays’, and view some of the sources/documents etc., in the Village Archive that would be useful to the family historian.  2 – 3.30 p.m.

9th

No Meeting at St. Andrews - Maldon Ghost walk.  Meet Moot Hall at 7 p.m. for two hour guided tour to hear about some spine chilling tales and events.  Bring along your digital camera to record some ghostly orbs at the Swan Inn.  Finishing in the Blue Boar’s own haunted room.

16th

No meeting at St. Andrews. - Half Term Holiday

St. Andrews – Family History Updates.  Discuss the meanings and origins of some of our familiar sayings. 

March 2nd

St. Andrews – Illustrated talk by Family Historian Eric Probert entitled ‘Lesser known sources for the family historian’.

9th

St. Andrews – Family History Updates.  Discuss how flight played its part during WW1 and the development of early aviation technology.

16th

No meeting at St. Andrews. Private tour of the Stow Maries WW1 Aerodrome.  2 p.m. to 3.30.

23rd

St. Andrews – Family History updates.  Discuss how the right to vote developed for the working classes and the suffragette movement, and the events that led to women being able to vote.

30th

St. Andrews – Simon Johnson to take us onto Heather Hills where he will demonstrate equipment now used by archaeologists.  Helping us to  discover some of the earthworks that exist on this site.
