St. Andrews – Discuss Family History updates and the new itinery for 2012. Bring along an interesting photograph connected to your family tree. 

17th

St. Andrews – Family History Updates – Discuss Tips on researching family history before Church Records began and look at what information was contained within the Doomsday Survey and the later Lay Subsidy lists.

24th

Meet at the History Centre or St. Mary’s for a talk on Monumental Inscriptions with a tour of the Graveyard looking at some of the more interesting features. Confirmation of exact venue in the new year.

31st

 

St. Andrews – Family History updates and discuss the afterlife (if any) and the various beliefs and experiences.

7th February

St. Andrews – Talk by Pip Wright-‘ Frolic, Fervour and Fornification’

Some revealing entries that can be found in Parish Registers and in the papers and documents of the County of Suffolk!

Visit to the Quaker Meeting House Maldon  2 or 2.30pm?  Details to be confirmed In January.

St. Andrews – Family History Updates.  Discuss the Religious changes in Britain during the 1600s and in particular the formation and beliefs of the Quakers and other non conformists.

6th March

 

St. Andrews – Bring along any documents that you have found useful whilst researching your family history, telling us about the document and how/where you found it.

13th

Visit to Hatfield Peverel Church for talk and tour.  2pm – 3.30pm Tea coffee provided

20th

Visit to the Police Museum, Chelmsford.  Meet 2 pm  Cost £2 per head on Admission. Tea/Coffee 3.30 at Costa coffee house on nearby Chelmer Village retail park (next to Hobby Craft.) optional.

27th

St. Andrews – Family History Updates.  Discuss Black sheep, if any, in your family tree. Look at the various sources for researching court records, prisoner records etc., Also Transportation and the conditions and punishments in the early county gaols. For the squeaky clean amongst us we will also take a look at Police Constable Service Record sources!
