 Centenary of the Outbreak of
THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918

A number of Memorials exist in the Village, commemorating the names of Little Baddow residents and their families who served, and sadly some of who fell, in The Great War 1914 -1918.

To mark the Centennial Anniversary in three years time, the Little Baddow Family History Group wishes to hear from anyone with copies of photographs of their military, individuals, letters, postcards, documents, papers, etc., relating to their families in the Village during the War. If sufficient information becomes available, it is hoped that a local display remembering that period may be possible in the second half of 2014.

People with items of interest, and happy to share these with us, are invited to contact any member of the
Little Baddow Family History Group, including Alan Ridgway at Styal, The Ridge, Little Baddow,
 01245 222394, or
alan.f.l.ridgway@

Can you contribute to our next exhibition?

Then and Now!  -  ‘Our Village in the 20th Century’

The History Centre would love to hear your stories about the Coronation in 1953!

  • Did you live in the village?

  • How did you celebrate?

  • Did you have parties, plays, pageants, souvenirs?

We are sure there are some fascinating tales out there and we would love to record them for our next exhibition opening in May.

Do you have photos we could copy, or ‘treasures’ we could photograph or borrow? Make our next exhibition really yours!

If you would like someone from The History Centre to record these memories for you and add them to our village archives, please contact the following numbers and we will arrange it:

Alison Harker   01245 223042

Chris Day          01245 224094

We look forward to hearing from you!
